Captain Billy's Cape York Wilderness Fishing Safari
This is one designed for 'the boys' and the keen fishing ladies - imagine 6 nights under canvas and 5 days of glorious fishing in the superb Cape York region of Australia.
Your premium Australian wilderness out-back fishing safari kicks off in Cairns where you will meet Captain Billy's team of experienced 4WD off-road tour drivers/fishing guides - Terry, Graham and Steve. From here we pack up and hit the road in convoy cruising comfortably in Toyota Landcruiser V8 vehicles, towing platinum Kimberley Kampers Off Road Trailers. Welcome to the first day of your exciting 7 day wilderness fishing adventure to Cape Flattery, Cape Melville, Bathurst Head, Bathurst Bay and Princess Charlotte Bay!
With a minimum of 2 people and only a maximum of 8, you are guaranteed a truly unique and personalised out-back fishing adventure as we traverse our way over a rugged wonderland, river crossings and an almost criminal amount of scenic highlights.
Fishing, 4WD’s, rugged outback, solitude, camping and a helluva lot more fishing… this has to be the perfect combination for a ‘blokes getaway’! But just because we’re blokes doesn’t mean we have to rough it! Under the guidance of your personal tour driver and fishing guide, you will enjoy travelling with the latest 4WD technology equipment available, and your campfire cuisine chef will ensure a comfortable and relaxing fishing holiday, whilst you enjoy excellent food and beverages, all in an exciting wilderness setting. The majority of your out-back bush dining experiences will be at the hand of your experienced outback gourmet cook, proud to provide hearty, delicious Australian BBQ fare! Whether it’s from the "Aussie Spit", in the "Hillbilly Campfire" oven or a delicious juicy steak with all the trimmings from the hot plate, the food is great! And those fresh fish you will catch – we can't wait to try that!
For those keen to get behind the wheel, Captain Billy has been known to let guests experience the pure buzz that comes from driving his special 4X4 luxury Toyota Land Cruiser V8 Turbo diesel vehicle. This machine is fully equipped with the latest gadgets, including front and rear lock differentials, outback suspension, long-range fuel tanks, air conditioning and a large capacity refrigerator. The state of the art Kimberly Platinum off road Kamper trailers hitched onto each of our vehicles incorporates a fully equipped kitchen, ensuite shower and toilet, refrigerator/freezer and all catering supplies to ensure a pleasurable 4WD fishing tour. Added to this, we also carry small outboard powered tinnies to give you the best opportunity to explore scenic river systems and to catch the many species of fish abundant in this angler's paradise.
For your comfort and safety we also have Iridium satellite phone and Garmin Rino 2-way radio and GPS communication equipment, allowing you, the fisherman, to explore beyond the usual whilst being prepared for all opportunities that may arise.
Using two off road Kimberley Kamper trailers for a mobile fishing camp, our flexibility gives us a distinct advantage. In addition, fishing inland waterways means that we are not governed by the restraints of having to fish the tide. We can fish for Barramundi all day and all night right from our back doorstep, authentic bush camping at its best!
Included in the trips are all meals and non-alcoholic drinks, as long as the drinks come in a can. For transport reasons, bottles are not allowed. If you have any special needs, please call or include this information when you book or make an enquiry.
The Fishing
The fish species in the Cape York region are just as diverse as the areas where we will take you to catch them! All the marine superstars are here including Barramundi, Mangrove Jack, Saratoga, Fingermark, Salmon (Threadfin & Blue), Black Jew, Queenfish, Trevally (GT's, Golden, etc), Mackerel (Spanish, Spotted & Shark), Queensland Groper, Estuary Cod, Coral Trout, Spangled Emperor, NannyGai, Javelin Fish, Coal Grunter, Mud Crabs and more!
Your Cape York fishing Safari is partially a self drive operation with two anglers in each custom alloy fishing tinnies (boats). Our experienced fishing guides have years of knowledge about the Cape York area and know where the best fishing is, and when!
Fishing Guides are in the tinnies with anglers on a rotational basis, while maps of the area are supplied and you are briefed in detail before a particular fishing session before choosing to head off and explore the fishing on your own, or fish in the company of the guided boats.
