Kimberley Outback Toursday 12
Lombadina, Broome
A leisurely start to our morning before heading down to the remote Aboriginal Community of Lombadina located at the northern end of the Dampier Peninsula.
During our visit to Lombadina you can view and purchase local Aboriginal craft and artefacts from the community shop. Other activities include mud crabbing, ancient footprint tours and bush walks. White sandy beaches, clear blue Indian Ocean waters and mangrove lined tidal creeks create a tranquil Oasis. From Lombadina we enjoy our journey back to Broome for another night at Roebuck Bay Caravan Park.

day 13
Fitzroy Corssing, Geikie Gorge National Park
Today we travel east on the Great Northern Highway towards our first destination, the small township of Fitzroy Crossing. From here we travel the short distance to Geikie Gorge National Park to enjoy a spot of lunch and an informative boat tour of the Gorge. Geikie Gorge is situated at the junction of the Oscar and the Geikie Ranges. The mighty Fitzroy River has carved a 30 metre deep gorge into the remains of the ancient limestone barrier reef, and when the Fitzroy is in full flood during the wet season it covers the whole national park. The continuous rise and fall of the water has left the bottom of the walls bleached white, which creates an intriguing sight, and why the Gorge is a popular photograph spot! Our evening accommodation is at the superb Fitzroy River Lodge and Camp Ground which boasts terrific full amenities plus restaurant, bistro, dining room, lounge bar and cocktail bar, swimming pool, barbeque, tennis courts, volleyball, guest laundry and card-operated Internet computers.

Kimberley Outback Toursday 14
Halls Creek, Bungle Bungles
Our journey today finds us travelling the northern edge of the famous Great Sandy Dessert with our drive-by scenery dotted with remote Aboriginal settlements and vast cattle stations before arriving at Halls Creek. From Halls Creek we travel to our overnight bush camp in the Bungle Bungles National Park, which will be out outback home for the next 2 evenings. Tonight we enjoy a delicious Aussie BBQ bush dinner before relishing the peaceful tranquillity of this stunning location.

day 15
Bungle Bungles
The Bungle Bungles National Park, or Purnululu National Park as it is officially called, is our paradise to explore for the day. Our explorations will take us to popular visitor spots such as the panoramic Walanginjdji Lookout, Cathedral Gorge, Echidna Chasm, picturesque creek walks and the Majestic Gorge. We enjoy another evening in our outback bush camp.

day 16
Halls Creek
On the road this morning, we travel to Old Halls Creek, which is the site of the first gold discovery in Western Australia and the original site for the town of Halls Creek. This deserted but picturesque old town boasts a lot of history to be enjoyed. We visit the ruins of the old Post Office and the small cemetery. We travel back to Halls Creek for our overnight accommodation.

Kimberley Outback Toursday 17
Tanami Track, Wolfe Creek Crater, Rabbit Flat
Today we start our exciting crossing of the Australia's third largest desert, the untamed Tanami Desert via the Tanami Track. Our journey takes a break today at Wolfe Creek Crater, which was formed by a giant meteorite that crashed into the earth 300,000 years ago and at 880 metres across, this is the second biggest crater in the world! From the crater we continue our journey onto Rabbit Flat, which is referred to as the most isolated Australian Road House. This is our campsite for our final evening of our outback safari.

day 18
Alice Springs
We awaken on our last morning to a delicious camp breakfast before travelling east along the impressive northern slopes of the MacDonnell Ranges. On route to Tilmouth Well Road House the outside scenery provides a diverse view of mining leases and Aboriginal settlements. Tilmouth Well Road House is located on the edge of the Tanami Desert and is a rather bizarre sight at the height of summer in the desert! The award-winning road house is where we will enjoy our last lunch, choose from gourmet bush tucker and browse the gallery featuring the works of local Warlpiri artists. From here we are on the homeward stretch on the Stuart Highway as we return to Alice Springs.
